CORE BELIEFS

OUR TENETS

THE ONE

TRUE GOD

God has revealed Himself as the Creator of all things and the Redeemer of mankind. He is manifested as the Triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They are 3 unique persons, yet one.

Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 43:11; Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 2:10; Acts 5:3; Ephesians

INSPIRATION

OF SCRIPTURE

The Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God. In them we find truth and the final authority for all Christian faith and practice.

2 Timothy 3:15-17

DEITY OF

JESUS CHRIST

The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who shares in the deity of God. He is also truly man who was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for sin and arose from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and is now at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.

 Matthew 1:23, John 1:1-14,  Philippians 2:6-9; Hebrews 10:11-14

ORIGINAL SIN

& FALL OF MAN

Man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost. Only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and by His resurrection can man have grounds for justification and salvation. This salvation and spiritual life are obtained by regeneration through the work of the Holy Spirit.

 Genesis 1:3; Romans 3:23-26

SALVATION

BY FAITH

Man’s salvation and redemption (a free gift of grace from God) can only be obtained by exercising faith, not by works, and by the finished redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

 Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:24

THE NEW MAN

IN CHRIST

If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature (creation) in the inward man. We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus. We are partakers of His divine nature.

 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:10; 2 Peter 1:4

DIVINE HEALING

& PROVISION

The anointed work of Jesus Christ provides not only salvation, but also healing and provision for all believers. We believe that the “spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free” from the curse of sin, sickness, poverty and death.

 Matthew 8:16-17; Romans 8:2; John 10:10

MARRIAGE

As a matter of belief, doctrine and religious practice, Inspiration 9 Church reserves the term “marriage” for the covenant relationship between one man (biologically male – husband) and one woman (biologically female – wife) to the exclusion of all others. This covenant relationship represents the union between Christ and His Church.

 Genesis 2:18-24; Matthew 19:5-6; Mark 10:8; Ephesians 5:22-33; Colossians
3:18-19; 1 Peter 3:1-7; Hebrews 13:4

WATER

BAPTISM

All who believe in Jesus Christ as their Saviour and have been born again are commanded to be immersed in water as a declaration that they identify with the death of Christ and have been raised with Him in newness of life.

 Mark 16:16; Matthew 3:13

THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT & PRAYER

In prayer we are communicating with our God. Before Christ ascended to Heaven as he completed the redemption of mankind through his death, burial and resurrection, he told of the arrival of the Holy Spirit to help guide us through this life. In Acts 2, the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost and ever since has been here leading us in our walk with God.

This arrival was the start of what we know as the baptism of the Holy Spirit and is available to all believers.

The Holy Spirit is an important part of our lives and we welcome and listen to the Spirit in our services. In 1 Corinthians 12, it teaches us that the Holy Spirit brought with him Gifts to help us in our lives. The Greek word for “spiritual gift” is charisma. It means, “something freely given.” It denotes an extraordinary ability bestowed by the Holy Spirit for special service. They are the gifts from the Holy Spirit which enable the Church to defeat any enemy that comes against it.
These Gifts have been made available by God for us to live victorious lives. The Bible instructs us to pursue and desire these Gifts. Inspiration 9, in unity with the Holy Spirit, activates these Gifts in our services often during our prayer times. You will experience and be witness to these gifts in operation that will Reveal and Discern things spiritually happening, see Miracles and Healing occur as well as the use of Tongues and Interpretations. Those who are experiencing these gifts for the first time may find them outside of their natural comprehension as they are spiritual gifts in operation.

Specifically, the use of Tongues may not be understood with our natural intellect as it is not meant to be, as we are praying (communicating) to our God and not looking to communicate an intellectual message to others.

SIMPLE TRUTHS ABOUT PRAYING IN TONGUES

They will edify, build our faith
and pray the will of God which
creates unity and intimacy with
other believers.

Every believer baptized in
the Spirit has the ability to
speak in Tongues as it is
activated by faith.

It is not to be used for
communicating a message to the
intellectual mind***

Tongues are meant to be
used both corporately and
privately.

ATONEMENT

OF SIN

We have received the atonement of sin through the shedding of Christ’s blood at Calvary and obtained righteousness through our faith in his resurrection.

Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 43:11; Matthew 28:19;  1 Corinthians 2:10; Acts 5:3; Ephesians

THE BAPTISM

OF THE

HOLY SPIRIT

The ministry and baptism of the Holy Spirit are to glorify Jesus Christ and to indwell, guide, and empower believers for life and service. This baptism brings the gifts, or enablement, of the Holy Spirit and their uses to the forefront of the ministry of the body of Christ. This experience is distinct from, and subsequent to, the experience of the new birth and is evidenced by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance. The sign of speaking in tongues is available to all believers.

 Acts 2:1-4; Luke 3:16

THE BODY OF

THE CHURCH

The true Church is the composition of all those who have been born again. Through the new birth, believers are united as the Body of Christ. Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of the Church.

 Ephesians 1:22-23

FIVE-FOLD

MINISTRY GIFTS

We believe in the five-fold ministry gifts given to the church at the ascension of Jesus Christ and that these continue to be needed and should be expected today: the ministries of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. We believe that women can be called to these roles and we endorse their active participation in every facet of ministry and service.

 Ephesians 4:11

LORD'S SUPPER

(COMMUNION)

The Lord’s Supper, or Communion, is a symbolic expression of our sharing the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ as well as a memorial of his suffering, death, and prophecy of His second coming.

 1 Corinthians 11:23-31

THE BLESSED

HOPE

The Blessed Hope of the Church is the resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation (catching away to Heaven) together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord.

 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Titus 2:13

THE FINAL

JUDGEMENT

There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. Whoever’s name is not found written in the Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire which is the second death

 Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:11-15;
Revelation 21:8

SEXUAL

PURITY

The Bible instructs us on a lifestyle of sexual purity and not to engage in sexual relations outside of the confines of marriage. Further, fidelity within marriage reminds us that the marriage relationship is a spiritual covenant that is built on commitment, trust, and respect between husband and wife.

 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5,7
